A recipe for each country

The country recipe challenge I’ve given myself is to

  • Cook (at least) 1 recipe for each country in the world
  • Based on popular local foods & recipes.

Recipes and food tastes vary from country to country. And some popular foods are not that obvious when visiting.

For example (being Dutch) I grew up with appelmoes being served with lots of meals, but you might not notice it when ‘researching’ Dutch recipes.

Yes it will take some time – but I will be adding them to the list below.

Original recipes but sometimes different.

I try to use authentic recipes, however (unfortunately) not all the ingredients are available in my local area.

For example Gachas manchegas (pictured) is delicious but Grass Pea flour is not easily available.

Which is why I’ve adapted some of the recipes to use home grown herbs or easy to get ingredients. Similarly I’ve also added recipes to make essential pastes, syrups, etc. you can make when growing your own herbs, peppers, etc.

Countries so far

There are 239 countries to be covered in the country recipe challenge – ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.

Below are listed the countries I have started so far. I will be adding recipes to the list below when completed. For the full list of recipes follow the links in the menu.

Please note, it’s only just started but even if I add 1 recipe per week it will take me quite some time 🙂

The next country…

In order to avoid picking easy recipes – Italy, Spain, etc.

I will use the random country generator to select the next country.
