Apple and Mint Sauce

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 6 Whole Apples - Granny Smith, Pink Lady or Gala
  • 3 tbsp Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 3 tsp Lemon juice
  • 60 ml Water

Instructions

  • Get the ingredients ready
    Strip the mint leaves from the stalk and put on chopping board
    Chop the leaves into small pieces.
    Peel and core the apples and cut into large chunks.
  • Cook the apples
    Place apples, sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan
    Cook on low heat, gently stirring until the sugar dissolves
    Then simmer for 5 – 6 minutes or until apples are soft but still holding shape.
  • Mash the apples
    Let the apples cool for about 5 minutes
    Place apple mixture in the bowl of a food processor
    Add the lemon juice and mint
    Process until pureed

Notes

The length of time you need to simmer the apples will depend on how small you cut them and also on the type of apples. In the video I used Granny Smith apples with very large chunks and has to simmer for 15 minutes.
Just simmer until they become soft.
