Seed starter mat
How to use a seed starter mat
The ideal seed starter mat will help speed up the germination of seeds.
For example a good one (like the one pictured) is both water-proof and energy saving.
And will help get fast results before transplanting the seeds

Guide on how to use a seed starter mat
The seed heat mat above I use for growing tomatoes indoors as well as for speciality herbs and peppers, with fantastic results.
To use this mat all I tend to do i:
- Soak the seeds in water for 3 to 6 hours
- Fill a seed tray with the seeds.
- Put it on top of the heat mat
- And when they sprout (with about 3 to 4 leaves) move them either to a hydroponic or aquaponic system or a larger pot
Below the pictures show an example of how to use a seed starter mat – and the difference.
Both seed trays contain exactly the same type of seeds – Thai Basil on the left and Roma tomatoes on the right.
The picture on the left was not using a seed starter mat – and the one on the right using a heat mat.
Sown the same time, same light & heat and the difference is clear.
